01/09/2020 - "B" Shift crews were dispatched to a 2nd alarm house fire around 1230 hours on the 4700 block of Georgia in the City of Crystal. Crews were dispatched via mutual-aid to assist West Metro Fire along with multiple other departments. Battalion 2, Engine 2, and Engine 3 responded and assisted with overhaul. Crews cleared the scene around 1400 hours.
01/17/2020 – "A" Shift Crews responded to a garage fire off the 5600 block of Orchard in the City Crystal around 0900 hours via auto-aid for West Metro Fire. Chief 3, Engine 2, and Engine 3 responded.
01/30/2020 – “B” Shift crews responded to the 5000 Block of 69th for a reported business fire around 0830 hours. Chief 2, 3, Battalion 2, Engine 2, 3, 4, and Fire Marshal 1 responded with auto-aid from West-Metro Fire. Battalion Chief 2 arrived to find nothing showing from the outside. Engine 2 and Engine 3 arrived to find a magnesium fire in a machine. West Metro Fire was cancelled and crews remained on scene for a prolonged period of time overhauling the machine with business workers.
01/31/2020 - "C" Shift crews responded to a house fire on the 5000 block of Welcome in the City of Crystal around 2145 hours via auto-aid to assist West-Metro Fire. Battalion 3, Engine 2, and Engine 3 responded to the scene. Crews assisted with various tasks and cleared the scene around 2300 hours.
02/01/2020 - "B" Shift Crews responded to a reported car fire with reports of everyone being out. Battalion 2, Engine 2, and Engine 3 responded. Engine 3 arrived to find an engine compartment fire and started extinguishing the fire. Battalion 2 and Engine 2 arrived shortly after. Crews quickly found and rescued an individual from the smoke-filled car having a medical emergency and started North Ambulance. One firefighter rode with to the hospital to assist paramedics in patient care. The individual is in stable condition due to the rapid rescue and quick response of crews.
02/13/2020 - "A" Shift crews responded to a reported house fire on the 7700 block of Modern Rd around 1900 hours. Initial alarm assignment included Battalion 1, Engine 3, 4, and Tower 2 with auto-aid from West Metro Lt. 21 and Tower 1. Engine 3 arrived to find a working garage fire. A quick knock down prevented the fire from spreading into the residence. North Ambulance stood by at the scene. Units cleared the scene in about an hour.
02/20/2020 - "B" Shift crews were dispatched to the 5700 block of 56th in the City of Crystal for a reported house fire via auto-aid to West Metro Fire. Battalion 2, Engine 2, and Engine 3 responded. PD on scene reported heavy smoke showing. Battalion 2 and West Metro Engine 32 arrived to find no signs and started investigating. Battalion 2 took command. Crews found a small fire and started ventilation. Crews were cleared within an hour and transferred command to West Metro.
02/20/2020 – “B” Shift crews took Engine 21 to Becker to assist with the Northern Metals Recycling Fire. Crews worked from midnight to 0700 hours (02/21/2020). Crews utilized multiple master streams throughout the night along with working with company workers to help move
03/01/2020 - "C" Shift Crews responded to the 6400 block of Douglas Drive for a reported apartment fire around 0900 hours. Initial Alarm included - Chief 1, 2, 3, Battalion 3, Engine 2, 3, 4, Fire Marshal 1, and Deputy Fire Marshal 1 with auto-aid from West Metro Engine 32. Battalion 3 arrived to a 3-story apartment with no signs. Updates included active fire on the 2nd floor. Battalion Chief 3 upgraded the incident to a 2nd alarm. 2nd alarm struck including - Engines from Brooklyn Center and Maple Grove, Plymouth with a ladder truck, and Fridley with an Engine to stand-by and cover calls. Crews conducted extensive overhaul and cleared the scene.
03/15/2020 - "C" Shift Crews responded shortly after 1500 hours for a report of one through the ice on the 8000 block of Edinburgh Center Dr. Battalion 3, Engine 2, Engine 3, and Engine 4s crew with Rescue 41 responded to the water emergency. Engine 2 arrived quickly due to staff responding from the East Fire Station and was able to help rescue the victim from the water safely. During water emergencies in the winter, crews utilize a cold water rescue suit (aka mustang suit) that allows them to enter the water without feeling the freezing effects. The suit is waterproof and the inner liner is buoyant.
03/16/2020 – Battalion 2 and Engine 2 responded to a fatal accident on Humboldt Ave and Meadowood around 0700 hours. Engine 2 remained on scene for a prolonged period of time to assist with Brooklyn Park Police and Hennepin County Sheriffs.
03/16/2020 - "B" Shift crews responded to a reported dumpster fire on the 7000 block of 72nd around 1300 hours. BC 2, Engine 2, 3 responded. Engine 4 was tied up on another call. Engine 3 arrived quickly to find a dumpster fire spreading into a row of garages and laid a crosslay. Battalion 2 upgraded the assignment to a garage fire which brought in Fire Marshal 1, Deputy Fire Marshal 1, Deputy Chief 3, Battalion Chief 1 and auto-aid from West-Metro. Engine 3 knocked down the fire quickly and prevented it from spreading past the exterior of the garage and started overhauling. West-Metro was cancelled. Engine 2 arrived and assisted with overhaul. All units cleared without incident.
03/19/2020 - "B" Shift Crews were dispatched to a fire alarm on the 7900 block of Xerxes around 0200 hours this morning. Battalion Chief 2, Engine 2, and Engine 4 responded. Engine 2 arrived to find a single story daycare with smoke showing from all sides, upgraded the incident to a business fire, and took command. Engine 3, Chief 2 and Fire Marshal 2 responded on the upgrade along with West Metro Captain 7, Lieutenant 31, and Tower 1. West Metro was diverted due to a reported apartment fire in our city at the same time of the business fire. Engine 2 and Engine 4 made entry into the structure to encounter heavy heat and smoke conditions. Crews repositioned and made entry on the bravo side of the structure finding fire throughout the attic space. Battalion Chief 2 upgraded the assignment to a second alarm bringing in Fridley with a Ladder, Coon Rapids with an Engine, Brooklyn Center with an Engine, and Plymouth with a Engine to stand by and help cover calls. Plymouth Battalion 1, Lieutenant 32, and Engine 21, Brooklyn Center Chief 4 and Engine 3, Coon Rapids Engine 2, and Fridley Aerial 2 responded. Crews switched to defensive operations due to heavy fire in the attic space. Engine 2 pulled a blitz fire for exterior fire knock-down. Brooklyn Center Engine 3 and Fridley Aerial 2 set up their up their ladders to assist with master stream defensive operations. West Metro Tower 1 set up their ladder on the back of the structure to assist with master stream defensive operations. Crews remained on scene until around 1000 hours this morning. This incident shut down a portion of Xerxes throughout the morning and attracted media attention. Two North Memorial Ambulances and a Supervisor stood by at the scene. Thank you to our mutual aid partners, Brooklyn Park Police, and North Ambulance for assisting this morning! The fire is under investigation at this time.
03/25/2020 - “B” Shift crews responded around 0530 hours to a reported house fire on the 3000 block of Carnation Ave. Initial Alarm included Battalion 2, Engine 1, 3, and 4 with auto-aid from Fridley with a Ladder. Battalion 2 arrived to find nothing showing from the exterior of 2 story single family dwelling. Engine 1 arrived and found moderate smoke conditions in the residence. Engine 4 arrived, and crews found a kitchen fire that was vent limited. Crews conducted overhaul and cleared the scene within an hour. Auto-aid was cancelled.
03/26/2020 - "A" Shift crews were dispatched to a house fire on the 2000 block of Gunflint Trail around 0915 hours. Initial Alarm included Chief 2, Battalion 1, Engine 1, 3, and 4, Fire Marshal 1, Fire Marshal 2 with auto-aid from West Metro Tower 1. Reports from police on scene stated there was an active fire. Battalion 1 and Engine 1 arrived to a 2-story residence with smoke showing from the back side of the residence. Engine 1 secured a water supply and laid lines to the back of the structure. A Second Alarm was struck including Coon Rapids, Fridley, Brooklyn Center, and Plymouth Fire to stand by and help cover calls. The rapid exterior attack prevented the fire from spreading extensively into the structure. Crews remained on scene conducting overhaul and cleared the scene around 1030 hours.
