8/15/2017 - "A" shift crews were called on a second alarm to Brooklyn Center to assist with a house fire around 9am. Battalion Chief 1 and Engine 22 responded to the scene. Crews provided assistance along with other departments for roughly 4 hours and were cleared.
Just before 8pm, crews were called to River Park where patrons found a kayak floating down the river unmanned. Patrons also stated that there was a paddle that followed shortly after. Department training for P.O.C. firefighters was underway at the time, so they were able to take the boat to the launch along with Engine 22 and Battalion Chief 1. Boat 11 was deployed and crews worked with HCSO and Fridley Fire Department to search the area. Crews all cleared without any victims found.
While crews were out on the water incident, a stabbing was paged out to the 8300 Block of Zane. Rescue 41 responded to the area and was cleared in. Crews found a victim stabbed multiple times and assisted in patient care while North Memorial Ambulance treated patient. One firefighter rode down to the hospital along with an ambulance supervisor. The incident attracted media attention.
