  • Second Alarm Struck at Festival Foods Fire

    Brooklyn Park Fire with Auto Aid from Brooklyn Center were dispatched to a fire inside of Festival Foods just before 1800 on Sunday 7/16/17.

    Brooklyn Park Battalion Chief 3, Engine 22, Engine 41, Resue 31, West Metro Lt. 21, and Aerial 11 responded initially.

    Battalion Chief 3 arrived to find a mega sized grocery store with smoke showing from the front of the store and roof line. BC 3 found dark grey smoke banked down to the floor. BC 3 struck a second alarm. Chief 1, Chief 2, Battalion Chief 2, and Tower 21 responded on the 2nd Alarm Page. 

    2nd alarm included: Brooklyn Park All Call for personnel, Brooklyn Center and Fridley with Engines, Coon Rapids with a Ladder, and Plymouth with an Engine to stand by at Central Station. 

    Engine 22 with the assistance of Rescue 41 got a water supply and laid an apartment lay to the seat of the fire. Rescue 31 took a back up line to protect the interior crew. Tower 21 set up on the charlie side of the structure. Fire was knocked down at 1811. 

    Robbinsdale was requested with their boat to assist with ventilation. 

    Mutual aid crews assisted in ventilation and salvage/overhaul. Mutual aid crews remained on scene until 2130. Brooklyn Park Crews remained on scene until 0020.
